Cluster access

The BSC LPC is behind the PSOM fire wall.

ssh access is supported through scisub.pmacs.upenn.edu.

ssh -XY holder@sciscub.pmacs.upenn.edu

Use transfer.pmacs.upenn.edu to scp files to and from the BSC PMACS cluser.

sshfs holder@tranfer.pmacs.upenn.edu ~/mnt

scisub.pmacs.upenn.edu does not allow scp, or sftp access.

Use sciget.pmacs.upenn.edu to pull/push data from websites, github. scisub, transfer, and the bsclpc compute nodes block outside access.

Installed Software

PMACS uses modules for most installed software.

Run

module avail

to list the software installed.

Login to the PMACS helpdesk and click on Need Help? Submit a ticket then Systems to submit a help ticket.

Login nodes

Once logged into scisub.pmacs.upenn.edu, you can login to one of the interactive BSC LPC nodes with

$ QUEUE=bsc ibash

for normal shell access.

The default queue is set in your ~/.bash_profile. You can change it at any time.

You may also specify a particulare host or set of hosts with:

bsub -Is -q bsc_interactive -m "bsc04 bsc05" bash

to restrict a new shell to bsc04 or bsc05

X11 forwarding

Use xbash to tunnel X connections

$ QUEUE=bsc xbash
$ xeyes

Currently there is no x2go equivalent for X11 forwarding.
